COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Yesterday, community members gathered at Widefield Park to remember the 25 lives lost in the United Flight 585 crash in 1991, as United Airlines representatives and local responders observed a moment of silence.  KOAA News5
  • More than 3,500 customers in southeast Colorado Springs are without power today, with the outage spanning between Union Boulevard and South Academy and from Valley Hi Golf Course to Delta Drive. Crews are working on the issue and expect power to be restored before noon.  11 News

  • More students are joining community colleges as they add new trade courses in welding and electric vehicle repair to fill job gaps; Front Range, Pueblo, and Pikes Peak State College now offer hands-on training that builds skills for local jobs (programs designed for today's industry needs).  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • Colorado College announced Tuesday that actor Dee Bradley Baker will speak at the Class of 2026 Commencement on May 17 at Ed Robson Arena (the event is closed to the public). Baker, known for voicing Perry the Platypus and other characters, returns 40 years after his graduation.  11 News
  • At Library 21c, 21st Century Toastmasters met today, with members practicing public speaking, tackling Halloween-themed Table Topics, and receiving feedback to build confidence.
