  • Modern Motel in downtown Colorado Springs has embraced a 'hospitality meets humanity' model that serves both regular guests and those facing homelessness.   • Temple Shalom will begin a 10‑week Jewish Humor class on Wednesday evenings starting this week at its Colorado Springs campus, where instructor Kobi Chumash will lead discussions with videos, lectures and readings on how laughter helps the community cope; course fees are $295 for nonmembers.  Colorado Springs Gazette

  • Colorado lawmakers propose a bill that will require colleges to conduct wellness checks within six hours of a missing student report and mandate law enforcement training on missing person alerts (expected to be introduced this week) to help close critical time gaps.  Colorado Springs Gazette

  • Banning Lewis Prep boys and Evangel Christian Academy girls secured a 3 seed in the CHSAA brackets released on Sunday.   • Northeastern (Sterling) JC pitcher Ondrej Vank, 19, will represent the Czech Republic in the World Baseball Classic starting Thursday at 8 p.m. MT against Australia, making him the only active college player in the event as his coach praises his journey.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • The No. 8-seeded Palmer Ridge girls beat Tri-Lakes rival Lewis-Palmer 62-46 on Saturday to advance to the CHSAA Class 4A State Tournament third round; they will face No. 8 seed Pueblo East on March 7.  Colorado Springs Gazette
