James Golka, 59, who has served as bishop in Colorado Springs since 2021, was appointed by Pope Leo XIV as the new archbishop of Denver and will be installed on March 25.

The Pikes Peak Children's Museum is preparing a new home at the Pikes Peak Family Success Center, 1520 S.
Verde Drive + it will soon host activities for children up to 10 at a planned grand opening.

Air Force Academy senior Alexandra Skeen (2026 Holaday Scholar) will study experimental aerodynamics at Oxford after graduating in May.
She has led research and teamwork initiatives at the academy that are expected to support her future pilot training.
El Paso County schools have expanded postsecondary programs to make college and career training more affordable for students.
This fall, local districts offer full-tuition scholarships, concurrent enrollment at lower rates, and innovative career training options to help students start on their paths.
The planning department, child care groups and downtown residents are working to ease a child care crisis by updating zoning rules to let centers open in churches, social centers and homes.

Air Force hockey rebounded from a tie Friday when the Falcons won 5-4 over Mercyhurst Saturday night at the academy arena — coaches said the team improved its net-front play by capitalizing on loose pucks to secure the win.
Gazette Preps announced its 5A-4A awards for girls volleyball, naming Rampart’s Anaya Wright as Peak Performer and Coach Brianne Perkett as Coach of the Year while recognizing additional players on first and second teams from Rampart, Pine Creek, Cheyenne Mountain, and Lewis-Palmer.
The Widefield wrestling boys won the 4A region 4 title Saturday in Falcon, their first title since 2002, while the girls placed second in 5A Region 2 against Eagle Crest.
Four wrestlers per weight class will advance to the state championship at Ball Arena in Denver next week.
Colorado Springs pairs figure skaters Ellie Kam and Daniel O’Shea (Olympians) will skate at 11:45 a.m. today in Italy for the Olympic short program after winning gold in the team event.
They aim to add more medals to their tally at the ongoing Winter Olympics.
The Air Force women rallied to sweep San Jose State 77 to 61 at Clune Arena on Saturday, overcoming an 11 to 2 start and making 28 of 34 free throws as they improved to 4 to 1.
They will face Boise State and New Mexico this week.
