CULTURE NEWS

  • The Michelin Guide announced today that inspectors are surveying restaurants statewide for the 2026 edition—expanding eligibility beyond Denver, Boulder, Aspen and Snowmass Village. The full selection will be revealed later this year.  Colorado Springs Business Journal
  • The Fine Arts Center Theatre Co. begins previews of its new comedic drama 'The Roommate' today at 7:30 p.m. at Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College.   • Artist Nina Elder transforms highway fabric and reclaimed trash into cosmic art in her exhibition, 'The Source Never Diminishes' at GOCA in Colorado Springs, and her work will inspire the House of GOCA’s Stardust fashion show on Feb. 20 — the exhibition runs through March 7.  Colorado Public Radio
  • Local resident Krys Fakir will perform a monologue from his grandfather Abdul 'Duke' Fakir’s 2022 book during the tribute event on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at Ent Center for the Arts, where music, dance, poetry, and live tributes will honor Motown’s legacy.  Colorado Springs Gazette

  • Seven school districts in the Pikes Peak area updated AI policies to guide safe usage and prevent misuse. Sand Creek International School in D-2 introduced two new AI-based electives and now holds teacher office hours to help integrate these tools into learning.  Colorado Springs Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Colorado Springs officials featured a podcast on the Southeast Strong Neighborhood Plan (the first project under the Neighborhood Planning Program) that will guide improvements in transportation, economic development, culture, housing, public safety, and health; Councilmember Gold leads the conversation to update residents on upcoming community changes.  City of Colorado Springs
  • City officials have invited proposals to repurpose the former Meadows Park facility, which closed in October 2025, into a new community hub — proposals focusing on youth programming, food access, and other neighborhood services will be reviewed in the spring.  KOAA News5
  • Liz Denson, CEO of Early Connections Learning Centers, testified before the U.S. Senate on Thursday about the federal child care funding freeze affecting local C-CAP subsidies (Colorado Child Care Assistance Program). A federal judge lifted the freeze on Feb. 6 while uncertainty remains for providers who depend on this support.  11 News

  • Colorado Springs Switchbacks midfielder Zach Zandi announced his retirement on Thursday after suffering a recurring concussion last season.
