- ➤ Colorado Springs earned a Silver-level Bicycle Friendly Community award from the League of American Bicyclists for investing in safer bike lanes and pedestrian signals over the past four years (including new bike lanes and crossing improvements). - ➤ Tyson Barrie’s light lager, Chilly Ones, will debut in Colorado on Monday in stores, bars, and restaurants after launching in Canada in 2024. - ➤ The new tax break increased the standard deduction to $15,750 for singles and $31,500 for couples filing jointly (the highest ever), meaning more income is protected from taxes and tax experts advise checking forms and keeping records to file accurately before deadlines on Jan.31 and April 15. 11 News

- ➤ Lewis-Palmer D-38 broke ground yesterday on a new Home School Enrichment Academy for homeschooling grades K-12 adjacent to the district’s administration building at 146 N. - ➤ Negotiators from the Colorado River basins are meeting with Interior Secretary Doug Burgum today in Washington to seek a compromise on water cuts before a Feb. 14 deadline — record low-snowpack and differing proposals are adding urgency to the talks. Colorado Public Radio
- ➤ A Colorado Springs pet owner is urging stricter pet laws after her pomeranian died while in the care of an unlicensed sitter who managed too many dogs (the sitter pleaded guilty on Jan. 20). She calls for laws that recognize pets as more than property. KOAA News5

- ➤ A ConsumerAffairs study ranked Colorado Springs as the worst city for dating among 110 large cities, scoring 26.33 out of 100—down seven spots from last year—with fewer bars and restaurants and low numbers of singles hindering its dating scene. 11 News

- ➤ Artspace will break ground this year on a new five-story, all-electric live-work building downtown offering 51 affordable units and 3,000 sqft of commercial space.
