CULTURE NEWS

  • Boyd Struble has run his neon workshop—Boyd's Neon—in Colorado Springs since 2001 and has created signs for hotels, restaurants, and collectors over four decades. He will continue operating at his current location for at least four more years.  KOAA News5
  • Yolanda Renee King—Martin Luther King Jr.'s granddaughter—is set to speak at MLK Jr. Day events in Colorado Springs on Sunday and Monday. She will appear during a fireside chat at Cornerstone Arts Center and at a prayer breakfast and Unity March at local venues.  Colorado Springs Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Widefield School District 3 superintendent Aaron Hoffman, who served for 33 years since 2024, announced on Friday that he will retire at the end of the 2025-2026 school year — the board will begin the search for his successor.  11 News
  • Widefield School District 3 Superintendent Aaron Hoffman will retire at the end of this school year after serving the district for 33 years. The Board of Education will soon begin its search for a new leader.  KOAA News5

FINANCE NEWS

  • Bellco Credit Union opened its first Colorado Springs branch at 4441 Integrity Center Point last December near Barnes Road & North Powers Boulevard, offering 24-hour ATM access and personalized banking guidance. The credit union, now serving over 7,000 members, plans to open a second Springs branch this summer.  Colorado Springs Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Colorado Springs invites residents to share feedback on its parks in a new Vision Survey that will help set priorities for the Park System Master Plan. The survey (taking six to eight minutes) remains open until midnight Feb. 13.  11 News
  • On Jan. 13, Gov. Jared Polis announced a $2.5 million commitment to launch the Pikes Peak Recreation Area — a move expected to unlock over $75 million in additional funding, create permanent jobs, and boost outdoor recreation and economic growth in Colorado Springs.  Colorado Springs Business Journal
  • The City of Colorado Springs announced lane closures on 8th Street starting 9 a.m. today for four weeks as crews rebuild sidewalks and roadway features from near the Fountain Creek bridge to the Highway 24 frontage road; additional closures will occur on southbound 8th Street to locate utilities.  11 News
  • City crews will begin work on the Rampart Park drainage project Wednesday; the three-week effort will repair an open channel and install a water pipe while limiting park access to a single 10-foot lane for up to three days — weather permitting.  11 News
