- ➤ UCCS engineering seniors will travel to Africa at month’s end to refine a water pump for a Ugandan village near Lake Bunyoni + visit Nairobi for STEM outreach at Kibera Girls Soccer Academy. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Jan. 4, Colorado Springs firefighters shared a drone video showing several grass fires near the outskirts of the city. Officials said they are monitoring the situation closely and will update the public as conditions change. 11 News
- ➤ The city’s Trails, Open Space & Parks program will complete 14 miles of new trails in Blodgett Open Space by summertime, with a new trailhead and parking at the old quarry to ease conflicts; future projects include a hiking trail up Pulpit Rock and work at Fishers Canyon.
